Retaining Rings
Retaining rings, also known as circlips, are fasteners used in mechanical assembly, primarily to restrict the axial movement of parts on shafts or within holes. They are categorized into external retaining rings (for shafts), internal retaining rings (for holes), spiral retaining rings, and E-type retaining rings, among others. Materials include carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy steel, while surface treatments such as black oxide, zinc plating, or nickel plating can enhance corrosion resistance and wear resistance. Retaining rings are widely used in industries such as automotive, electronics, and industrial machinery, and their installation typically requires specialized tools like retaining ring pliers or spiral ring installation tools.
